The Township of Minden Hills invites everyone to come out and enjoy the completed Minden Riverwalk pathway along the beautiful Gull River running through downtown Minden, along with the newly completed Boardwalk, constructed through the existing Minden Walking Trail. It displays flora and fauna of the area while providing a comfortable walking environment for residents and visitors to Minden.

This Boardwalk joins the Minden Riverwalk loop trail to the Minden Hills Cultural Centre as well as the Minden Hills Community Centre and S.G. Nesbitt Memorial Arena. The Township of Minden Hills has been a champion of this space.

The Minden Waterfront is a scenic environment and is one of the many highlights of the town. It has significant potential to become an integral part of the arts scene and provide educational opportunities for youth.

The work done in Minden and Haliburton shows that it is possible to promote walking and improve walkability in small rural communities. We have been recognized as leading the way for other small, rural communities. The many accomplishments demonstrate the range of partners who play a role in creating walkable communities. No one group can do it alone; it takes work at both policy and grassroots levels, with decision makers, community groups and community members all contributing to the big picture.
