Planning Student Trust Fund

Thank you to all Students who submitted their applications!

As a student member you are eligible to apply for the following scholarships awarded annually by the Planning Student Trust Fund:

  • The Dillon Scholarship of $5,000 for overall best submission from a graduate student; and
  • The CIP President's Scholarship of $4,000 for the most outstanding research submission; and
  • Three Past President Scholarships of $2,000 each for the next top three research submissions, in honour of Thomas Adams, Horace Seymour, and Humphrey Carver
  • The Vancouver Scholarship for Excellence & Leadership in Sustainable Planning $3,500.

The intent of these scholarships is to assist in defraying the costs incurred in the research, preparation and production of a thesis, practicum or major research paper. At the time of application, the project will be proposed or in progress with a target completion date within the 2012 – 2013 school year. The scholarships will not be awarded for any projects already completed. The Scholarship deadlines have now been reached. Thank you to all Student Members who have participated.

Vancouver Scholarship for Excellence & Leadership in Sustainable Planning

Through the generosity of an anonymous benefactor, a new scholarship has been created this year. The Vancouver Scholarship for Excellence & Leadership in Sustainable Planning, valued at $3,500 is targeted to student leaders interested and or currently researching sustainable community planning. The study should demonstrate neighbourhood design and land use planning approaches that reduce resource and economic costs, environmental impacts while maintaining community liveability.

At the time of application, the project will be proposed or in progress with a target completion date within the 2012 - 2013 school year. The scholarship will not be awarded for any projects already completed.

CIP College of Fellows Travel Scholarship

The College of Fellows in association with the Canadian Institute of Planners, is pleased to offer a $4,000 scholarship to a student enrolled in their final year of an undergraduate planning program recognized by the Canadian Institute of Planners, that will further their study and experience in the field of planning. The scholarship will provide an opportunity for the student to travel, observe, and study, innovative, leading-edge planning projects first hand, thus contributing to their education, anticipation and excitement for the profession they are about to enter. The 2013 Travel Scholarship is in memory of Jeanne Wolfe CM, FCIP
