CIP’s Healthy Communities Program is called Taking the Pulse and our work is guided by a recently completed member survey, the partnership with HSFC and our involvement with other Healthy Canada by Design CLASP partners.
“Taking the Pulse”: Benchmarking Planning for Healthier Communities
Taking the Pulse includes plans for new member services and provides a number of ways in which members can be engaged on planning for healthy communities:
- A Practice Guide for Planning Healthy Communities (coming in 2012)
- An Inventory of Built Environment Practices, in cooperation with the Urban Public Health Network and National Collaborating Centre for Environmental Health (coming in 2012)
- A series of Research Fact Sheets for members, summarizing built environment research conducted in regions across Canada between 2007 and 2011
- A webinar series for planners and health professionals (starting November 2011)
- Content for members on CIP’s website (2011)
- Presentations to various forums and conferences
In addition to working with Affiliates and our HCBD health partners, CIP’s work on healthy communities includes representation on:
