Description / Qualifications

Reporting to the Director of Strategic Initiatives, you will conduct research, develop and produce reports, profiles and other materials as you provide for the research needs of the division.

Duties include undertaking research for specific business establishment and site selection requests; joint venture and strategic alliance computer matching; conducting surveys; maintenance of information for sector and economic profiles, including business directories and land and building inventory systems. You will also be required to provide research support for special projects such as Strategic Plan grant applications and other corporate projects. You will liaise with both internal and external information sources, including the local business and development community, economic development organizations and associations and research organizations. In addition, you will be responsible for assisting with and participating in community consultations, local trade shows and real estate and investment forums.

Your degree in Business, Economics, Urban Studies, Public Administration or a related discipline, is complemented by 1 - 3 years’ related experience, or the equivalent. Good working knowledge of computers including Microsoft word, Dbase, desktop publishing and client contact software is essential. You possess excellent project management skills as well as the ability to manage the execution of and timelines of multiple projects. You have excellent interpersonal, problem solving skills and excellent oral and written communication skills are essential to your success in this role.

SALARY: $56,444. – 64,105.
