Under the direction of and in collaboration with the Manager of the Planning and Development Unit, the incumbent will manage the delivery of land use planning projects. The Senior Planner can expect to be challenged by a variety of tasks undertaken in a demanding and rewarding business environment. Our expectation is that you will assume increasing responsibility towards the management of a number of large multi-disciplinary projects in a professional manner that displays problem-solving and excellent decision-making skills. The incumbent should be a team player and will assist or mentor junior staff as required.
Responsibilities and Duties:
•Planning policy and zoning interpretation/administration for municipal and development clients
•Research and presentation of planning analysis
•Professional planning consulting services to the land development industry including project design and planning approval processes
•Public consultation skills
•Preparation of planning documents such as development plans, area structure plans, growth studies and/or zoning by-laws
•Experience in subdivision design and/or sustainable community planning projects with demonstrated practical application of sustainable principles would be seen as an asset
•CIP Membership is preferred
•Minimum of 7-15 years of progressive experience in a municipal or consulting environment
•Previous experience in a policy planning or zoning administration role in a municipality, working with transportation planners on integrated design solutions and/or sustainable LEED ND initiatives will set you apart from your peer group
•Possess excellent written and oral communication and time management skills
•To succeed in this position you must be a highly motivated, organized, flexible, enthusiastic team-player committed to upholding MMM Group’s reputation for delivering high quality service
