The City of Lacombe is located in the heart of the bustling Edmonton/Calgary corridor and approximately 20 kilometers north of the City of Red Deer. Situated at the junction of Highways 2, 2A and 12, the city is served by a busy CP Rail line, a municipal airport, seven elementary and middle schools and four private schools. AFSC is a Crown corporation offering crop insurance, farm lending, commercial lending and farm income disaster assistance to agri-food producers in Alberta. AFSC Lacombe employs over 600 people.

Reporting to the Corporate Services Director, the Planning & Development Services Manager provides leadership and direction, and maintains overall responsibility for the quality and timely delivery of planning, subdivision, development, permits and inspection services in the City of Lacombe.
Education and Training
A minimum of five years of related experience, two of which include a supervisory and/or management role or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning or Design would be an asset.
Experience and Knowledge
Knowledge of relevant provincial legislation and law (i.e. MGA, Subdivision and Development Regulations, Historical Resources Act, Surveys Act, Land Titles procedures).
Knowledge of development & planning best practices, architecture and urban design.
Exceptional communication skills.
Demonstrated knowledge and application in the practice of community engagement.
Knowledge of the Alberta Building Code and Safety Codes Act.
Competency in Microsoft Office required.
