We have a Federal Research Centre and two Provincial Research Centres employing 26 scientists and a total of 125 staff members. Lacombe is home to Agriculture Financial Services Corporation’s head office. AFSC is a Crown corporation offering crop insurance, farm lending, commercial lending and farm income disaster assistance to agri-food producers in Alberta. AFSC Lacombe employs over 600 people.
Lacombe offers the little extras that make life in our community so comfortable. We have many well maintained trails, ponds and playgrounds, an aquatic centre, sports and leisure complex and a robust athletic park along with a brand new field house.
We are rich with culture and diversity, history and heritage. Our Edwardian downtown and stunning murals depicting Lacombe’s vibrant past draws year round attention of tourists, visitors and residents alike.
Lacombe has many advantages due to its ideal location. The City is within 10 minutes of Gull Lake and Aspen Beach Provincial Park, and 1 hour from Rocky Mountain House situating it within close proximity to Alberta’s Rocky Mountains. Recreation is never far from home.
