Biography

Michael is a Registered Professional Planner (Ontario), proud member & volunteer of CIP, and a Certified Environmental Professional (EP) with over 20 years experience in community planning. Michael is President of SullivanPLAN, a boutique land use and environmental consulting firm in Niagara, Ontario serving clients on all sizes of projects.

WHY ME?
My goal is to place CIP as a thought leader on emerging topics like climate change, healthy communities, and Indigenous planning. This will help members to continue pursuing good planning and ensure the CIP Board is well informed.

GOVERNANCE EXPERIENCE
I have been a member of CIP since 2000 and an active volunteer since 2011. My experience includes:
Council Member – OPPI (4 years)
Committee Chair – CIP (6 years)
Program Committee Chair – Lakeland District OPPI (5 years)

PLATFORM
While a volunteer, Michael has experienced first-hand the need for CIP to be:
A thought leader for good planning, including emerging topics
A visible and proactive advocate on planning policy
More visible presence through digital and print marketing
An Institute with a proud and loyal membership
CIP has an amazing opportunity to be a thought leader in Canada and internationally! With three new/updated Policies being released this summer, the time is now for CIP to be that leader!
