Brief Biography

Tonii is Nehiyaw (Cree) from Cowessess First Nation. Utilizing her experiences and perspective pertaining to land, community and economic related issues, Tonii has expanded her career both professionally and geographically across Canada as she works with communities to navigate the many nuances of Community Planning. Tonii’s current work as a Community Planner and Partner at Urban Systems’ Saskatoon branch focuses on collaborating with Indigenous communities to develop comprehensive community plans, economic development strategies, land use plans, policies, and community engagement initiatives.

Placing Indigenous communities at the front-and-centre in her approach to planning enables Tonii to utilize people within their own communities as the primary thought leaders of planning initiatives. By harnessing a collaborative strategy to complex topics and integrating community outreach, Tonii aims to co-create long range sustainable strategies and policy  that resonate with all levels of community.

Tonii is also an active member on multiple business and community boards where she works to ensure the inclusion and incorporation of Indigenous perspectives.
