Sandeep Agrawal, PhD, RPP, MCIP

Dr. Sandeep Agrawal RPP, MCIP, is a professor and director at the School of Urban and Regional Planning and Associate Chair, Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, University of Alberta. Dr. Agrawal has changed the face of planning education in Canada through the establishment of three graduate programs: the Master of Planning in Urban Development and a PhD specialization in planning at the University of Alberta, and the MSc in Urban and Regional Planning at Ryerson University. He has also established a new School of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Alberta which offers all degrees, only the second such school in Canada. An accomplished author with two published books, over 40-peer reviewed publications, and more than 30 professional reports, Dr. Agrawal has also contributed to planning practice and affected city bylaws and planning policies and legislation, with a lens on human rights and equity. He has also demonstrated service to his community through his role as Vice Chair of the Professional Standards Board’s Accreditation Planning Committee, co-President of the Association of Canadian University Planning Programs, and has served on the Plan Canada Editorial Committee. Dr. Agrawal is the recipient of APPI’s Legacy Award.
