Retired & Non-Practicing Members

As a member of the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP), you are part of the largest network of professional, student, and retired  planners in Canada.

Retired Member
If you are a professional member who has fully retired from planning and left in good standing, join the Institute as a Retired Member or switch your membership type to Retired Member.
Please note: The registered MCIP® title cannot be used once you are retired. CIP does not have a retired designation i.e. MCIP (ret.) is not official and cannot be used.

Non-Practicing
If you are going on a leave of absence (parental, medical, sabbatical, or other), it isn’t possible to put your CIP membership on hold; however, you may change your membership type to Non-Practicing. This change would first need to be done with your Provincial and Territorial Institute and Association (PTIA).

To join, or for any questions, contact our membership department.
