Provides direction to external contractors.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Managing strategic planning and design-based projects related to the provision of open space and the promotion of community design.<\/li>\n<li>Manages special studies, including those prepared by outside consultants.<\/li>\n<li>Initiates, coordinates and monitors \u201cprocess\u201d improvements for the Section, Division and Department.<\/li>\n<li>Development and implementation of initiatives that work towards the Departments \u2018place making\u2019 objectives as a member of the Flower City Committee.<\/li>\n<li>Develops, coordinates and monitors long term Master Parkland Agreements.<\/li>\n<li>Processes woodlot cutting permits including reviewing woodlot management reports.<\/li>\n<li>Analyzes Development Charges and Capital Budget Submissions.<\/li>\n<li>Responsible to provide research, including liaison with other divisions, departments and agencies as required for the preparation of reports.<\/li>\n<li>Coordinates the preparation of studies, from research to presentation, for the City\u2019s Pathways Master Plan, including presentations to Council<\/li>\n<li>Leads the implementation of the City\u2019s Pathways Master Plan, including the development of implementation framework, action plans and demonstration projects.<\/li>\n<li>Preparation of background research including review and analysis of relevant literature and practices for studies related to naturalization of parkland, for environmental studies etc.<\/li>\n<li>Provides review and comments on Official Plan, Secondary Plan and Tertiary Plan documents as well as Official Plan, Zoning By-law amendments and Special Studies.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare and present reports to the Planning, Design and Development Committee, Flower City Committee and Committee of Council.<\/li>\n<li>Participates with the research, review and analysis of environmental issues impacting the City\u2019s open spaces.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare reports that review parkland development issues and strategies, the impact of legislative policies and requirements in the provision and delivery of parkland.<\/li>\n<li>Responsible for the preparation and maintenance of the forecast for parkland service levels for land and products.<\/li>\n<li>Co-ordinates with the Growth Management and Special Policy Section in the review and assessment of all demographic and statistical information for analysis in parkland and open space provision.<\/li>\n<li>Responsible to maintain land inventory database both textual and graphic in conjunction with GIS Analyst.<\/li>\n<li>Provide reports, studies for policy development and for communication of department positions and requirements for development of parkland and related issues to other departments, teams, agencies, consultants and developers.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare and attend presentations, meetings, workshops, and seminars as required to perform functions.<\/li>\n<li>Other duties as assigned.<\/li>\n<li><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>SELECTION CRITERIA:<\/p>\n<p>EDUCATION:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>High School (Grade 12) graduation plus an additional program of over three to four years (Urban and Regional Planning Degree) or equivalent<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>EXPERIENCE:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Over two (2) years, up to and including four (4) years experience in municipal planning.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>OTHER SKILLS AND ASSETS:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Membership or ability to obtain membership with the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP)<\/li>\n<li>Strong knowledge of land\/facility database.<\/li>\n<li>Experience in developing municipal policy for the provision of open space.<\/li>\n<li>Proven organization and time management skills.<\/li>\n<li>Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with an emphasis on customer service<\/li>\n<li>Excellent presentation skills<\/li>\n<li>Able to work independently and as part of a team<\/li>\n<li>Working knowledge of MS Office, MicroStation and MS Access.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>**<\/em><em>Various tests and\/or exams may be administered as part of the selection criteria.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Interview: Our recruitment process may be completed with video conference technology.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants who do not meet the educational requirements but have direct related experience may be considered.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the corporation\u2019s Modernizing Job Evaluation project, this position will undergo an evaluation which may result in a change to the rate of compensation.
