If you would like to work as part of a progressive and growing organization and enjoy a <br \/>fast-paced environment, then this may be the opportunity for you.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is the Opportunity?<\/strong><br \/>We are currently recruiting a permanent full-time Planner l in our Planning and Economic Development <br \/>Department.<br \/>The Planner l reports to the Manager, Planning and Development, and also takes directions from the Director <br \/>of Planning and Economic Development and the General Manager, Infrastructure and Planning. This position <br \/>manages and reviews planning applications and projects for development, subdivision, redistricting, outline <br \/>plans and area structure plans, regional plans, and provincial legislation. This position is responsible for <br \/>developing subdivision, redistricting, outline and area structure plans. In addition, this position is responsible <br \/>for the development and management of policy projects and strategic initiatives as required and ensures the <br \/>development of the City of Leduc is planned responsibly.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What will you do?<\/strong><br \/>\u2022 Provide professional planning advice to the functional areas, the Subdivision Development Appeal <br \/>Board (SDAB), City staff, residents and Council<br \/>\u2022 Receive, renew and approve or refuse applications for development permits for residential, <br \/>commercial, institutional and industrial developments, land-use changes, home occupations, signs and <br \/>variances to ensure the requirements of the City\u2019s Land Use Bylaw (LUB) are met<br \/>\u2022 Calculating and tracking permit fees, levies and securities required for development permits<br \/>\u2022 Support preparation of documents such as, but not limited to, caveats and discharge of caveats, <br \/>restrictive covenants, right of ways, easement and encroachment agreements for registration at <br \/>Alberta Land Titles<br \/>\u2022 Prepare and present reports to the Subdivision Development Appeal Board (SDAB) <br \/>\u2022 Support preparation of recommendation to City Council on development matters<br \/>\u2022 Research land use planning and land use regulations practices to support social, environmental and <br \/>economic sustainability, including analyzing land uses, growth trends, patterns and opportunities<br \/>\u2022 Represent the City at public meetings and through related public consultation processes<br \/>\u2022 Support the processing of applications, including reviewing applications for accuracy and conformance<br \/>\u2022 Support backup for preparing letters respecting compliance and preparing encroachment agreements<br \/>\u2022 Conduct inspections for compliance and\/or for completion of development conditions<br \/>\u2022 Contribute to policy projects and strategic initiatives related to but not limited to redevelopment and <br \/>intensification, urban agriculture, housing affordability, long-term growth planning, and other projects <br \/>as needed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What do you need to succeed?<\/strong><br \/>You are an ideal candidate if you have the following:<br \/>\u2022 Degree in Regional and Urban Planning, Urban Design, Environmental Science, Landscape, Architecture <br \/>or Geography. <br \/>\u2022 Member or eligibility for membership with the Canadian Institute of Planner of Planners is <br \/>mandatory.<br \/>\u2022 Minimum of three years of professional experience in planning.<br \/>\u2022 Experience working in municipal government considered an asset.<br \/>\u2022 Experience with Microsoft suite of products and basic computer skills are required.<br \/>\u2022 Experience with subdivisions and development permits is considered an asset. <br \/>\u2022 Experience presenting to Council is considered an asset.<br \/>\u2022 Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a <br \/>team and other departments.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MyRewards@COL<\/strong><br \/>\u2022 Competitive salary<br \/>\u2022 LAPP pension<br \/>\u2022 Comprehensive health, dental and wellness benefits, including a generous healthcare spending <br \/>account<br \/>\u2022 Professional development opportunities<br \/>\u2022 Starting at 3 weeks\u2019 Vacation per year<br \/>\u2022 Flexible work arrangements, including a hybrid work environment and participation in an Earned Day <br \/>Off program <br \/>\u2022 Safe office location in a park-like setting<br \/>\u2022 Free parking<br \/>\u2022 Annual City of Leduc recreation pass, including access to free drop-in programs<\/p>\n<p>The successful candidate must be willing to provide a current Criminal Records Check at own expense.<br \/>If this sounds like you, please apply through our website at<em><strong> www.leduc.ca\/careers<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Competition closes at 11:59 pm (MT) on June 3, 2025.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same or lower classification level.
