Full-Time 35 hours\/week, Permanent<\/strong><\/p>\n

As the Town of Banff\u2019s Strategic Initiatives and Special Projects Planner you are joining our dynamic team of professionals who are committed to \u201cTake Care of Banff\u201d by ensuring the Town of Banff reflects the beauty, heritage, and natural grandeur of Canada\u2019s premier national park.<\/p>\n

You have a passion for crafting land use policy that helps achieve Council\u2019s goals and fulfill the Town\u2019s legislative responsibilities, while helping to guide outcomes that are fitting for a municipality in a National Park. This includes an uncompromising work ethic, superb written and verbal communication skills.<\/p>\n

You are familiar with land use, policy development and interpretation, and balancing public and private, individual and community interests. You will lead the development of municipal land use policy through:
\u2022 The Banff Community Plan (Municipal Development Plan);
\u2022 Land Use Bylaw amendments;
\u2022 Council policies;
\u2022 Area Redevelopment Plans and Area Structure Plans; and,
\u2022 Other duties as assigned.<\/p>\n

Having experience in a professional urban planning role will be helpful to build upon, as will experience in complex, multi-jurisdictional environments. You will apply inherent competencies to successfully multi-task and exercise sound judgment in decision making, independently prioritizing and facilitating a number of overlapping projects, and building relationships with community members. You will conduct your work within in a highly collaborative team environment that includes professionals leading development planning projects, environmental initiatives, and other supporting technical roles.<\/p>\n

Formally you have a post-secondary degree in urban planning or a related discipline such as architecture, or urban studies. You are also eligible for membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP). The starting salary for this position is $88,000.00\/year and the position is eligible for group health & dental benefits and RRSP contributions.<\/p>\n
