The City is committed to the professional development of our staff and invite you to come, grow with us!<\/p>\n<p>Reporting to the Manager of Development Planning, the Development Planning Lead will supervise and mentor a team of development planners in the review of the full range of development applications to ensure these files continue to advance within prescribed timelines.\u00a0The Development Planning Lead\u00a0 will have a keen interest in continuous improvement and recognize the importance of streamlining processes to advance the Corporations growth related goals. This position will assist the Manager of Development Planning with day-to-day activities and tasks related to processing complex development files and will be a key point of contact for the development community. The role is accountable to ensuring that development planning review activities are delivered in accordance with City Procedures and Policies, and Provincial Legislation, in a cost effective, efficient, and timely manner using a best practices approach. The Development Planning Lead\u00a0will also aid in the review or preparation of various reports to the Committee of Adjustment, Planning Committee, City Council, and\/or other advisory committees. In addition, this position will process their own complex development applications under the Planning Act including but not limited to: Official Plan and Zoning By-law Amendments, Draft Plan of Subdivisions and Condominium approvals, and Site Plan Approvals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Four (4) year University Degree in Planning from a Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) accredited planning program or equivalent.<\/li>\n<li>Minimum five (5) years of municipal planning and development review experience, with a minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience or equivalent is preferred.<\/li>\n<li>Full membership in Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI) and\/or Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP), and<\/li>\n<li>Registered Professional Planner (RPP) designation, or equivalent(s).<\/li>\n<li>Experience in supervising and directing staff work is an asset for the position.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to lead and inspire others in a team environment.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent analytical, problem solving, research, report writing, organizational, leadership, interpersonal, negotiation and supervisory skills.<\/li>\n<li>Working knowledge of local government functions and responsibilities, provincial government, and associated agencies as they relate to municipal planning responsibilities and labour\/employee relations principles, practices, and applicable legislation.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to deal courteously and effectively with all levels of staff and government, elected officials, local boards\/commissions, community groups, organizations, and the general public, with the ability to respect confidentiality.<\/li>\n<li>Skill and efficiency in the use of computer applications, including but not limited to: MS Office, Microsoft Teams, ArcGIS, and other applicable software.<\/li>\n<li>Valid class G drivers license in good standing with own vehicle to use on corporate business.<\/li>\n<li>IMS 200 Certification or equivalent (ICS200) is considered an asset.
