February 9, 2024<\/em> – Creating healthy communities is fundamental at all scales to the work of both planners and architects, from the inclusion of active transit options in a neighbourhood to the selection of building materials for housing units. Developed with this in mind, the new\u00a0Healthy Community Guidelines<\/a>\u00a0provide multi-sector professionals with tangible, evidence-informed guidelines for creating healthier buildings, sites, and neighbourhoods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Karen Lee, along with professional planner Spencer Croil RPP, MCIP and licensed architect Jonathan Rockcliff AAA, MRAIC, joined as speakers for an informative session on the newly released Guidelines. This webinar included a discussion on how the Guidelines can be applied by planners and architects interested in improving health outcomes related to the built environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Produced by the University of Alberta Housing for Health<\/a> team, these Guidelines were jointly created by over 150 multi-sector partners in Canada, including CIP and architects, over a three-year process funded by the Public Health Agency of Canada<\/a>. The Guidelines are available to download for free in BOTH English and French. Click here<\/a> to access your e-copy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
