Municipal Internship Program -Paid- Land Use Planning Stream
Overview: Join us for an 18-month paid internship designed for new or recent graduates eager to explore municipal government within small and medium-sized municipalities in Alberta.
Who We’re Looking For: Successful candidates for the Land Use Planning stream are proactive problem solvers with strong communication skills, poised to make a positive impact in land use planning roles. This internship offers the opportunity to explore every facet of municipal operations, fostering a deep understanding of how local governments function and how they can best serve their communities.
Who Can Apply:
- Graduates with a land use planning degree/diploma or related program (60 or more credits) completed between January 1, 2024, and April 30, 2026.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada.
- Must relocate or commute to the host municipality.

What You’ll Do:
- Dive into municipal land use planning, including reviewing bylaws and development plans.
- Conduct community consultations, process development permits, and manage compliance mechanisms.
- Gain insights by engaging with key municipal departments that support planning activities.

Anticipated Salary Range: ~$66,000-$81,000/year
