This session will present case studies of affordable and attainable housing projects undertaken in the City of Orillia, Wellington County and the Municipality of Port Hope, illustrating unique development solutions and processes for implementing affordable and attainable housing in smaller communities within the province. These case studies will include a focus on addressing the housing needs of vulnerable populations, the site selection process, innovative construction techniques for making housing more affordable, the need for a policy regime which supports the creation of more affordable housing, the importance of partnerships with all levels of government and the role of public consultation for these types of developments. We will disucss the challenges we have encoutered working on these projects and lessons learned.
