The planning profession has a significant role to play in creating safe and inclusive spaces. According to CIP’s Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Insight Survey from 2021, more than half of planners work with marginalized people, including members of 2SLGBTQ+ communities. Yet despite the efforts of planners and others committed to equity for all, there has been rising hate directed towards trans, nonbinary, and two-spirit individuals.
