Planner / Urbaniste

The Restigouche Regional Service Commission is located in northern New Brunswick and serves the municipalities of Bois-Joli, Campbellton, Heron-Bay and Kedgwick, and the Restigouche Regional Rural District.

Under the supervision of the Director of Planning Services, the planner is responsible for managing and leading the review of development projects on the territory. The individual will be responsible for the creation and upkeep/review of planning tools including municipal plans, rural plans, zoning by-laws and other by-laws as supported by the Community Planning Act. The individual will provide support and guidance to the division staff.

Skills and Abilities

• Strong understanding of urban and rural planning principles and of the development approval process.
• Ability to maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders including the general public, the development community, municipal councils and government departments
• Leadership, demonstrates a sense of responsibility and initiative.
• Interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively in both English and French.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure, independently and to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Qualifications

• Degree from a university planning program – recognized by the Canadian Institute of Planners.
• A minimum of five (5) years of work experience in land use planning

Salary – We offer a competitive salary based on qualifications and experience. We also offer a benefit package including medical and dental insurance covered in full, life insurance, RRSP contribution and other.

Work Schedule – Thirty five (35) hour work week over five days. The position will involve working outside regular office hours. Possibility of a combination of in office and remote work.

Sous la supervision du directeur des services d’urbanisme, l’urbaniste est responsable de la gestion et de l’examen des projets d’aménagement sur le territoire. Il sera responsable de la création et de la mise à jour/révision des outils de planification, notamment les plans municipaux, les plans ruraux, les règlements de zonage et autres règlements prévus par la Loi sur l’urbanisme. La personne apportera son soutien et ses conseils au personnel de la division.

Compétences et Habiletés

• Forte compréhension des principes d’aménagement urbain et rural et du processus d’approbation des projets d’aménagement.
• Capacité d’entretenir des relations de travail solides avec les intervenants, notamment le grand public, les aménageurs, les conseils municipaux et les départements gouvernementaux.
• Leadership et fait preuve de sens de responsabilité et d’initiative.
• Aptitudes relationnelles et capacité de communiquer efficacement en anglais et en français.
• Capacité de travailler efficacement sous pression, de manière autonome et à gérer plusieurs projets simultanément.

Qualifications

• Baccalauréat en urbanisme – reconnu par l’Institut canadien des urbanistes
• Un minimum de cinq (5) années d’expérience professionnelle en aménagement du territoire.

Rémunération – Nous offrons un salaire concurrentiel en fonction des qualifications et de l’expérience. Horaire du travail – Semaine de travail de trente-cinq (35) heures réparties sur cinq jours. Ce poste implique le travail en dehors des heures de bureau habituelles. Possibilité d’une combinaison de travail en bureau et de télétravail.
