Tsawwassen First Nation (TFN) is BC’s first modern treaty nation. This session will share the process of TFN’s development of a vision document that will guide the nation’s journey over the next 50 years. We started with a goal of developing a sustainability charter that was more rooted in western ideology and realized, through intensive community consultation and adopting an Indigenous worldview, that for the document to be effective, it would have to recognize the innate connection of all things. The resultant charter will be a guiding light on our way to creating a resilient community that looks forward while honoring our Tsawwassen values, culture, legends, and ancestors.
