The 2020s have been a time of pivotal change. While we have been quick to pivot and adapt, changes in workplaces, within the profession, and impacts on planners themselves have not received nearly enough attention. Drawing on coaching experience with 200+ planners across Canada and the U.S., and extensive planning practice research, this interactive session will explore how work and professional environments have shifted over the last few years (e.g. remote/hybrid work, greater diversity, generational difference, polarization); what challenges this has presented; and the knowledge, skills, and supports planners need to be successful in this new landscape and feel fulfilled in their careers. After all, happy and well-supported planners = better outcomes for the communities we serve.
