Reconciliation Fund

Following the release of our Reconciliation Action Plan, CIP has established a new Reconciliation Fund to alleviate financial barriers that have limited Indigenous participation in professional planning spaces, including as members and contributors to our programs and events. Through this dedicated support, we seek to foster meaningful collaboration, increase Indigenous representation, and create space for Indigenous leadership within our work.

The Reconciliation Fund exists alongside our Inclusion Fund. While the Inclusion Fund supports first-time attendance at CIP’s national conference for individuals from underrepresented groups, the Reconciliation Fund provides dedicated support for Indigenous participation across a broader range of initiatives.

The Reconciliation Fund may support:

  • Travel and incidental expenses related to CIP conferences or events
  • Honoraria for Indigenous speakers or knowledge holders participating in CIP learning activities
  • Participation in working groups, advisory bodies, or other initiatives facilitated by CIP

Please note that funding is limited, and we are unable to predict the level of demand for financial support. As a result, applicants should not expect to receive 100% funding for conference fees and travel costs.

The Reconciliation Fund will not support:

  • Individuals already receiving financial support from CIP through another program (e.g., Inclusion Fund, Emerging Planner Award)
  • Participation in conferences or activities not organized or hosted by CIP
  • CIP national conference registration fees. Please note that there is a reduced conference registration fee available for Indigenous attendees
  • Membership fees for CIP or other professional associations

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Member of/demonstrated connection to a First Nations, Métis, or Inuit community
  • CIP membership is not required

CIP staff will review funding applications as they are received. For questions related to the Reconciliation Fund, please contact us at engage@cip-icu.ca.
