Planners are at the forefront of some of the most pressing challenges of our time, especially the national housing crisis. To support you in this vital work, the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) is committed to equipping planning professionals with the tools and resources needed to address housing challenges effectively at both the local and national levels.
One key initiative we are launching is the Benchmarking Survey, which will directly inform the development of a new National Planning Community of Practice on Housing, and a series of online learning modules and resources funded in part by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation. By taking a few minutes to complete the survey, you will help us identify the skills and resources needed to tackle housing-related challenges in your work.
Survey Deadline: December 19, 2025, 11:59 p.m. PT
If you are interested in engaging further, please consider applying for our new Housing Education Working Group, which will help develop these new learning modules. Through this community of practice, CIP will elevate the profession’s role in housing policy, development, and implementation, ensuring planners contribute effectively to measures that address local and national housing needs.
CIP is seeking volunteers with:
- Subject matter expertise related to housing planning
- Experience teaching and/or providing professional training
