OTTAWA, March 5, 2025 – In response to the tariffs imposed on Canada by United States President Donald Trump, the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) expresses its deep concern over the economic implications for the planning profession. These tariffs pose a significant threat to jobs across multiple sectors, which rely on a stable trade relationship with the United States.
More and more Canadians, young and old, are struggling under the weight of high rents, high mortgage payments, and intense competition for limited housing choices from coast to coast to coast.
