OTTAWA, June 24, 2026 – The Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) is proud to announce the winners of the 2026 Canadian Awards for Planning Excellence.
Since 1983, these prestigious awards have celebrated the very best in Canadian planning. This year’s award winners celebrate excellence, creativity, and real-life impact.

Ann McAfee RPP, FCIP and Neal LaMontagne RPP, MCIP, Co-Chairs of the Canadian Awards for Planning Excellence Jury, also reflected on the high calibre of submissions: “Standing out among a highly competitive field of 60 submissions and 17 finalists, this year’s seven winners advance planning and action on climate, housing, healthy communities, and reconciliation. The authors demonstrated an inspiring level of ambition, creativity, and innovation. Their work reflects the many ways planners are shaping the places where we live, work, and gather. The Jury was inspired by the bold thinking, innovation, and deep commitment to community impact evident in every project.
